Detailed Itinerary
Close AllFly to Gonggar Airport and drive to Lhasa O/N Hotel (BB)
Upon reaching the airport, our amiable Tibetan guide will extend cordial greetings and present you with a Hada, the customary Tibetan ceremonial scarf. Then our guide will transport you to your hotel. You can see the Lhasa River and the Yarlung Tsangpo River on the way.

Lhasa - Visit Potala Palace, Jokhang Temple and Barkhor Market O/N Hotel (BB)
Today is the first day of your tour, during which you will visit the two UNESCO World Heritage Sites, Potala Palace and Jokhang Temple. Potala Palace is the Dalai Lamaโs winter residence and the local Tibetan governmentโs administrative hub. From the top of the palace, you can have a bird’ s-eye view of Lhasa’s old town. Also, one can witness the meditation cave and priceless collection of Dalai Lama burial stupas.
Later, we will visit the Jokhang Temple, which was sacred and constructed in the 7th century to promote Buddhism. Once you get inside, you can witness the Buddha Sakyamuniโs statue of age 12, gifted by the Tibetan King Songsten Gompoโs Chinese wife, Queen Wen Chen.
In the evening, we will visit Barkhor Market, which encircles the Jokhang Temple and is one of Lashaโs most significant marketplaces.ย You can blend in with the crowd by purchasing some Buddha relics.

Lhasa - Visit Drepung Monastery, Norbulingka Palace and Sera Monastery O/N Hotel (BB)
In the early morning, you will eat a decent breakfast at your hotel; later, our guide will pick you up and take you to two of the three great Gelug monasteries in Tibet, Drepung and Sera Monastery.
Drepung Monastery and Sera Monastery and Ganden Monastery are regarded as one of the “Three Great Monasteries.” This monastery is the biggest in the world. It was constructed in the 14th century and used to house 10,000 monks at one point, but there were just a few hundred left.
In the evening, we will visit the Sera monastery, founded by Tsongkapa in 1419. There is a story behind the name Sera: When it was being built, Wild Roses were on the hill behind, and in Tibetan, Wild Roses mean Sera. If you visit between Monday and Friday, you can witness monks debate in the monastery’s courtyard.

Drive to Gyantse, visit Khumbum Stupa and Pelkhor Chode O/N Hotel (BB)
After breakfast, we will follow the Friendship Highway to Gyantse. After crossing Kamba La Pass(4794m), we will witness the tranquil, turquoise-toned Yamdrok-tso Lake. Yamdrok-tso Lake is among Tibet’s three holiest lakes and is believed to be the metamorphosis of the Goddess. The turquoise-toned waters of this lake are what makes the view mesmerizing. This lake is 72km long and encircled by snow-capped mountains.
Later, we will pass through the Karo La Pass(5045m), from which we can view the Karola Glacier, which stands 5560m above sea level. After hours of driving, we will reach Gyantse. Gyantse is the third largest historical city of Tibet, where we will visit the famous Khumbum Stupa and Pelkhor Chode.
Khumbum is a spectacular multi-story Buddhist stupa (chorten) with beautiful carvings and paintings and is home to a massive 35-meter-tall gold-domed stupa. Then we will visit the Pelkhor Chode monastery, situated in the Nyangchu river valley, encircled on three sides by the mountains and a unique blend of stupa and temple.

Drive to Shigatse, visit Tashilimphu Monastery & Local Market O/N Hotel (BB)
We will have breakfast and then drive to Shigatse, the second-largest town in Tibet. Once we reach Shigatse, we will visit the Tashilimphu Monastery, built by Gedun Druk, a disciple of the renowned scholar Je Tsongkhapa, in 1447. You can view the enormous statue of Future Buddha, which is 26.2 meters in height and 11.5 meters in width. It is adorned with priceless pearls, turquoise, coral, and amber. It is the most enormous statue of its type on the planet.
Overnight at Shigatse.
Drive to Shegar O/N Hotel (BB)
Today, after breakfast, we will go to Shegar. During the travel, we will stop by the Sakya Monastery to visit. The Trum River splits it into two sections: the north and the south. It was constructed in the mid-13th century by Phagpa and has a distinctive Mongol style. Thousands of holy books (sutras) are housed in the ornately adorned hall with butter lamps, beautiful brocade figures, and more. It has thousands of Tibetan texts in volumes covering history, calligraphy, astronomy, and medicine.
You will also witness the stunning view of Shishapangma(8013m) and Mount Everest(8848m), the world’s highest peak. Then we will reach Shegar. As part of your acclimatization, you can rest the remaining day.

Drive to Rongbuk, Visit Rongbuk Monastery O/N Basic Guest House (BB)
Today, we will drive to Rongbuk, where visiting the worldโs highest monastery, Ronbuk Monastery, situated on the foot of the North Face of Mount Everest, will take your breath away. This monastery was established in 1902 by a Nyingmapa Lama. You can witness the several caves for meditaions carved into the cliffs.
Overnight at Rongbuk.
Excursion to Everest Base Camp then drive to Kyirong O/N Hotel (BB)
Today, we will wake up early and drive about 8 km to Mount Everest’s North Base Camp (5250m). On the way, we will witness the three thousanders: Mount Everest (8,848m), Cho Oyu (8,188m), and Shishapangma (8,027m). After reaching the base camp of Mount Everest, the massive white pyramid peak (Mt. Everest) towering in front of us will be an awe-inspiring moment, and we will also watch the Rongbuk Glacier.
We will stay there for a while and then continue our journey towards Kyirong, Nepal-Tibet Border.
Overnight at Kyirong.
Drive back to Kathmandu
Today, we will wrap up our tour. While we are having breakfast, the guide will take care of the formalities. Once the border formalities at Kyirong are completed, we will travel to Kathmandu through Syabrubesi-Trishuli-Kathmandu.
You can stroll around Kathmandu’s best places in the evening, such as Durbarmarg and Thamel.
